Leading the Move for Change Activity at the 71st Movendi International World Congress:

At the 71st Movendi International World Congress, held in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, from 2–7 October 2026, I had the privilege of leading Move for Change, a 35–45-minute morning wellness session designed to bring participants together through physical activity, well-being, and social connection.

The session combined group running, moderate-intensity interval training, and stretching, with activities open to people of all fitness levels. Beyond encouraging movement, Move for Change promoted mental well-being, healthy alcohol-free lifestyles, and the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). It also created an informal space for participants to network, reflect, and motivate one another before the day’s Congress sessions began.

As someone working in public health and NCD prevention, I believe health promotion should be practical and inclusive. It should give people opportunities not only to learn about healthy living but also to experience it.

Move for Change was a simple reminder that shared activities can bring people together across cultures, ages and professional backgrounds. We did not need to share the same first language or come from the same country to enjoy moving together and working towards a common goal.

Move for Change demonstrated how simple, collective activities can contribute to a healthier and more connected society. Regular physical activity is an important part of NCD prevention, while opportunities to move together can strengthen social bonds and encourage positive lifestyle choices. I am grateful to everyone who joined the session and contributed their enthusiasm and energy. My hope is that we continue carrying this spirit beyond the Congress by making movement and well-being part of our everyday lives.

Move for Change. Move for Health. Move Together.
