APRIL
Won the Student Innovation Project of the Year during the Quality Healthcare Kenyan Award. The Quality Healthcare Kenyan Awards (QHKA) seeks to honour excellence and innovation in the health sector for quality patient-centered care. The award came through the NCD 365 project I led at Stowelink and during my study at Kenyatta University. The project was implemented by team drawn from Stowelink and with partners across Kenya and Africa.

2021
Awarded Hideyo Noguchi African Prize for Young Researchers. This was awarded by WHO AFRO in collaboration with Japanese Government. I was among the 22 selected young Africans. This scholarship culminated into publication of research on mHealth technologies in augmenting universal health coverage.

Awarded Ban KI-Moon Global Citizen Scholarship. The Global Citizen Scholarship Program empowers young, active global citizen leaders who are engaged in SDGs and may otherwise not have access to valuable educational opportunities, networking experiences, and peer-to-peer exchange. The Scholarship includes the opportunity to attend a specialized academic training, join international fora, network with high-level changemakers, attend expert skills trainings and workshops, benefit from one-on-one mentoring, and profit from peer-to-peer exchange.

Awarded a scholarship to attend and present at the Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Conference in held on March 5-7th at the Royal College of Physicians, London UK. During the conference, I presented a project dubbed “the Drug Free Youth.” The scholarship was by Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Federation (CNMF).

WINNER TWENDE KAZI MOBILE FILM AWARDS SPECIAL CATEGORY- SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) IMPACT VIDEOS. Twende Kazi Mobile Film Awards is an initiative driven by the National Government Affirmative Action Fund the office of the Women Representative to recognize national film makers and young people working on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Stowelink Employee of the Year Award. Employee of the year award is an annual award conferred to the most committed and dedicated staff. The award comes with a prestigious certificate which is a true testimony of the achievement made by Staff at Stowelink. The nomination and selection process is rigorous and is steered by the board of directors. The board considers various parameters before deciding to award it. As such whomever receives the award truly deserves it.

Awarded the YALI (Young African Leaders Initiative) scholarship. YALI is a prestigious regional leadership program for Young African Leaders. The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) was launched by former President of the United States Barack Obama as a signature effort to invest in the next generation of African leaders. The need to invest in grooming strong, results-oriented leaders comes out of the statistics: nearly 1 in 3 Africans are between the ages of 10 and 24, and approximately 60% of Africa’s total population is below the age of 35.

June
Won the EFSOYC (Enhancing Food Security in urban and rural areas through Outreach Youth Champions). This award provided seed grants to supports young people to conduct their SDG projects. EFSOYC was funded by Bills and Melinda Gates Foundation through Kenyatta University. In 2019, the award was given to 8 pairs. My project, INFO4FOOD was among the 8 groups who won this prestigious award.
