Episode 14: The Overlooked Secret to Fitness – Rest and Recovery

Welcome to Episode 14 of the Physical Exercise and NCDs Series. Today, we focus on an aspect of fitness that is often underestimated yet critical: rest and recovery.

In the pursuit of strength, endurance, and health, many people assume that more training equals better results. However, science and experience show otherwise. Rest is not simply the absence of training—it is a vital process where the body heals, adapts, and grows stronger.

When you exercise, your muscles experience stress and tiny tears. These tears are necessary for growth, but without adequate recovery, they may lead to overuse injuries and setbacks. Rest days allow your body to repair, helping prevent fatigue and improving long-term performance.
