New Series Alert: Should You Join a Gym for Sustainable Exercise Habits?

Hi everyone! I’m Oduor Kevin, your NCD Advocate, and I’m excited to share the fifth episode of our series on building sustainable exercise habits. This time, we’re tackling a common question: Should you invest in a gym membership or just work out wherever you can?

In this episode, I discuss the benefits of joining a gym, including accountability, a motivating environment, and access to professional guidance. When you commit to a gym membership, you’ve made an investment, and research shows that people who pay for structured fitness programs are significantly more likely to stick to their workout routines. The gym environment, filled with people working toward similar goals, can be incredibly motivating and help you stay on track.

While a gym membership might feel like a financial barrier, it’s an investment in your health, goals, and future. Many gyms offer flexible payment plans, discounts, or trial memberships. If a membership isn’t within your financial reach, you can still be consistent with home workouts, outdoor runs, or community fitness programs. But if you can afford it, a gym provides structure, community, and resources that make sticking to your routine easier. Watch the full episode here:
